New Year’s Shimmer

Filed under Crystal Jewelry, Gift Ideas, Jewelry Deals

Sorry it’s been so long, friends! I’ve just returned to Austin from spending Thanksgiving with the family in snowy Colorado. The pewter skies and twirling crystalline flurries inspired me to incorporate these holiday touches into my life back home in Austin as Christmas and New Years approach.

In anticipation of our move into a gorgeous new condo in the heart of Austin, my fiance and I are throwing a swanky New Year’s housewarming party. And of course, on the forefront of every woman’s mind is: what will I wear?

So, here’s what I’m thinking:

Swarovski necklace

bcbg max azria strapless metallic lace dress

Spending my black Friday at home (like any sane person) on the couch with my laptop and a cup of tea, my perfect, smashing, Colorado-inspired New Year’s outfit came to life before my eyes. The bangle and necklace are made by Swarovski - totally affordable and absolutely gorgeous, the dress is BCBG Max Azria.

Not only will I invoke Colorado charm at my Austin New Year’s, but I’ll look stunning against the new granite countertops and stainless steel fixtures! Now I just have to find some shoes…

I seem to run into the same problem year after year when trying to find the perfect holiday gifts for the men in my family.  From my dad who has everything, to my husband who says he doesn’t need anything, it makes gift giving very difficult.  But this year I think ...continue
Cultured Pearls

Michelle Obama and her pearls: a much discussed topic of late. Say what you will about who she may or may not be trying to emulate, but she certainly wears her pearls well - single, double, or triple strand, long or short.   When it comes to pearls, does size matter? According ...continue

A Place to Show Off My Favorite Jewelry
no responses - Posted 11.07.08
When I get a new piece of jewelry, especially something really special, I want to show it off to everyone I meet. But sometimes that's socially awkward, even inappropriate. My friends and family members are interested enough, but strangers in the grocery store and on the bus are not. It's ...continue
The Colors of Autumn

Fall jewelry should imitate leaf color. Autumn's vivid reds, yellows, golds, oranges and browns are replicated in gemstones. I am especially attracted to the yellows in citrines (which is November's birthstone) and amber and the brown of smoky quartz. These gemstones compliment most seasonal clothing, especially fall leather ...continue

Next week, on November 11th, is Veteran's Day. For the Veteran on your shopping list, whether it's for Christmas, Birthday or Father's Day, I always have a hard time finding a gift that's suitable for my Dad and Father-in-Law. Sure, I can go with the proverbial tie, sweater, or ...continue

This is the latest installment in a series of posts recommending jewelry gift items for fans of the Twilight, Marked and other vampire-themed book series. I'm personally not a big fan of goth fashion, but I did find a set of pendants that I'm sure teenagers expressing their gothic style ...continue
