Red Carpet Highlights… and Lowlights

I love watching the Grammy Awards for one reason and one reason only; the stars never cease to amaze with the getups they show up in. This year was no exception. Some gorgeous, some - less than, to put it mildly.

Two words: Neil Lane. Before I even knew that both ensembles were by the same designer I was wowed by both Katy Perry’s and Marisa Miller’s jewels. Katy Perry’s pink vintage dress was complimented by platinum and diamond ring, bracelets, and earrings. The pieces were brilliant, chunky, but not overstated, while Marisa Miller’s chunks of citrine set in gold were deliciously so. Cascading curls and plunging neckline were a perfect backdrop for this exceptionally bold necklace.

The Grammys - Jewelry Lowlights

Oh, Paula. Once upon a time, Paula Abdul could make dancing with a cartoon cat look cool… but this getup? This wrongdoing goes so far beyond jewelry. She might have been better off, in fact, if all she’d worn was the small, tasteful bangle on her right wrist.

Last, but certainly not least: Twista’s watch, though eye-catching, bore a striking resemblance to an ice sculpture of a UFO.
