Alright, time to wrap up award season with the final Best and Worst of Jewelry… the Academy Awards issue!

My hands-down favorite jewelry ensemble of the red carpet was that of the gorgeous Angelina Jolie. E! Online likened her dramatic look to an evil Disney queen, to which I say pish posh. Her combined 180 carats of stunning emerald jewels stood out in perfect contrast to her elegant black dress, olive skin tone, green eyes, and upswept hair. Lorraine Schwartz couldn’t have asked for a better showcase of talent.

Penelope Cruz is always a favorite of mine, and she certainly didn’t disappoint at this year’s Academy Awards. Her delicate, detailed vintage Balmain dress was complimented by simple, classic, gorgeous diamond jewelry. My personal favorite of her pieces was a 69 carat cushion cut diamond necklace by Chopard.

As is frequently the case, her jewelry was only a very small part of Evan Rachel Wood’s problem. Do you think she knew that her skin was EXACTLY the same color as her dress? And that the color isn’t really one you want to advertise? And that her nails did nothing to help her undead appearance?

Heidi Klum. Never in my life did I think that I would be in a position to criticize this drop dead gorgeous Vicky’s secret icon, but seriously. She couldn’t quite decide whether she wanted the focal point of her outfit to be her shoes, her dress, her many, many bracelets, bulky rings, dramatic neckline, or gigantic earrings, so she just wore them all!
