Jewelry of New York Fashion Week - I

Between Michelle Obama and Fall 2009 New York Fashion Week, Jason Wu certainly has been the talk of the town. And if Ms. Obama hadn’t already sealed this rising star’s fate with her repeated endorsement of his designs, his presentation on the Promenade certainly did!

The look that Mr. Wu put forth was consistent and striking; romantic, feminine dresses reminiscent of the depression era juxtaposed with yellow and white gold stiletto style necklaces and earrings.

The severe nature of the jewelry certainly made a shocking contrast to the classic flowing styles of the clothing, and together with Romy Soleimani’s visionary make-up design described as “starry eyed but modern and fresh,” couldn’t help but take viewers to the fantasy territory Wu intended.

Having only been on the fashion scene for two years, 26 year old Jason Wu no doubt has far more Promenade artistry in store for us in the future.
