In September 2006, The Diamond Trading Company (DTC), launched the “Journey Diamond” promotion. The Journey Diamond was described as a piece of jewelry containing as least four stones of different sizes, arranged in ascending order from smallest to largest. The largest and final diamond should be of significant size. The intent of the design was to signify the growth of love over time, following the course and highlights of a couple’s relationship. Interestingly enough, I’ve noticed that over the last three years, the intented meaning has grown from representing love over time, to also include life changes. Some have described the piece as a roadmap of life, with the diamonds marking turning points or important steps along life’s path. The specific design of Journey jewelry is left to the imagination of the individual craftsman. Regardless, Journey necklaces, earrings and bracelets make excellent gifts for anniversaries and other special occasions.
