And the Academy Award winner for Best Earrings goes to ….. drum roll…. Chandelier Earrings! That’s right, the number one trend on the red carpet this season was Chandelier earrings, closely followed by large front-hoop earrings (with and without diamonds). The third finalist was on-the-ear earrings, which while considered to be quaint and subdued, were chosen by ladies wearing elaborate dresses with decorated necklines.
The Best Bracelet winner goes to the perennial favorite, the Diamond Bracelet. Adding pizazz and glamour to any outfit, large diamond bracelets are the go-to style for the red carpet year after year. The new way to wear them is in multiples and on both wrists. The runner-up was Mismatched Bracelets which were a new look for 2010. Several celebrities sported wrist adornments with gemstones and precious metals in varying styles.
The Academy Awards clear winner for Best Color was Blue, accounting for the most number of dresses. Flesh-tone dresses were abundant as well. Numerous celebrities chose various shades of pink, tan and white. This trend was ageless, since celebrities young and mature opted for dresses in these tones including: Helen Mirren, Demi Moore, Queen Latifa, Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez.
Celebrity watching at the Academy Awards is always entertaining. The glamorous outfits and dazzling jewelry make us all a little envious. Yet whether its a million dollar, one-of-a-kind, designer necklace formed from perfect gemstones and the purest fine metals or the much simpler pieces most of us own in the real world, beautiful jewelry is always fun to wear and “show off”.
