One of my husband’s prized possessions is the watch his parents bought for him when he graduated from high school.  He faithfully wore that watch for many years until he finally wore it out.  I had a very hard time getting him a new, replacement watch because, to him, that watch was special.  It didn’t matter that the watch wasn’t particularly expensive or unusual, it was the love and thought that his parents put into the gift that made it such a meaningful watch.

I think watches are wonderful gift ideas for both high school and college graduates, either male or female.  Watches are available in just about any style imaginable to match the personality and fashion preferences of most people.   Cost, brand, and material are all considerations with wide variations.  Selection is so large that sometimes its difficult to settle on just one watch.  Will the graduate prefer digital or clockface?  Would he rather have a dress watch or one that’s casual or sport?  What about watches with special features such as dive watches or ones for racing or aviation?  Should the watch be simple or decorated with diamonds?  Should the band be leather or a metal bracelet?  If so, what color or metal is best?  Finding the answer to each of these questions is what makes choosing one watch among so many others so difficult.  But in the end,  the graduate will appreciate and love the gift because it came packaged with love and pride in the graduate’s achievement.
