The peridot gemstone is an olive green or transparent lime colored stone. Peridot is an ideal summer stone due to the vivid green colors which makes it very appropriate that it is the August birthstone. It is one of the few gemstones that only comes in one color. Depending on the amount of iron in the stone is how green the peridot will be.

Peridot happens to be my birthstone and lately I have found some very beautiful jewelry pieces. I love how each stone can be unique depending on the shade of green, as there can be light green peridot to deep olive greens. I found out that peridot is the symbol of fame, dignity and protection and it is also known to be the 16th wedding anniversary gemstone.
