The Jewish faith does not believe that God should be represented in any form, including stylized symbols seen in jewelry. However, there are symbols that are universally accepted and proudly displayed by Jews around the world. One such motif is the highly recognizable Star of David, a six pointed star that symbolizes God’s rule over the universe. The two triangles denote man’s interconnection between contrary forces, like good versus evil, spiritual versus physical, and the relationship between man and God. The Chai is another familiar figure in Judaism that means “life.” The symbol’s intent is to express best wishes and well-being. An upcoming high holiday, Rosh Hashana, celebrates the Jewish New Year and ends with Yom Kippur. Symbolic religious jewelry is a wonderful way to commemorate the faith and the holidays.
