Honey Citrine and Diamond Gothic Ring by Judith Ripka

Honey Citrine and Diamond Gothic Ring by Judith Ripka

As I’ve mentioned in earlier blogs, I think jewelry themed for a specify event, like Halloween or Christmas can bring back special memories when pulled out to wear each year at the appropriate time.  Bat earrings, Christmas tree broaches, and pendants shaped like Easter bunnies are all fun to wear and add to the spirit of the holiday.  The problem with this type of holiday jewelry is the same as what makes it special, it’s very specific and generally isn’t worn outside of a few days or weeks preceding the holiday.  I believe a nice alternative to this is selecting pieces that are reminiscence of the season, without necessarily being specific to a holiday.  Jewelry with vivid rubies or emeralds easily represent Christmas but can also be worn anywhere at any other time of the year.  The same goes for pastel gemstones, such as aquamarine or pink topaz, which are associated with the colors of Easter and Springtime.  Halloween and Fall have an even broader array of jewelry that represent the season, but can be worn year long.  Orange citrine, brown smokey quartz, and gold or silver jewelry forged in Gothic or Medieval style are excellent choices in lieu of stylized ghosts and witches and can be worn whenever.
