Red is generally seen as the color that represents Valentine’s Day. In the last few years, however, pink hearts, cupids, and etched words of love have become increasingly common. Pink is definitely a more subtle color than red, even in it’s strongest hues. The meaning of the color choice over red for Valentine’s Day can be inferred to imply a softer emotion, even a non-romantic bond. In this sense, it’s a great idea for boyfriends to give current girlfriends where there isn’t necessarily an intended future together or for friends or relatives to exchange to show their affection. Most people, however, don’t read anything into the color choice. Pink may be chosen over red simply because the buyer likes the color better or he or she believes that pink jewelry will better coordinate with the giftee’s wardrobe. Pink may also be opted for because the buyer wants something slightly different than the expected red. Pink jewelry, in the form of tourmaline, jade, pearls, sapphires, etc is a wonderful alternative choice for Valentine’s Day.
