MIKIMOTO Special Edition Strand and Stud Set

MIKIMOTO Special Edition Strand and Stud Set

Akoya Pearls are what we imagine pearls should be.  They are the classic pearl: perfectly round, with a deep luster, few blemishes, and in the exact shade of cream or white we expect pearls to be.  Akoya pearls are unique from other pearls in that they are cultured by inserting round beads into a specific oyster, the Pinctaca fucata,  in a very specific region ranging from the Orient to Australia, but primarily in Japan.  Because these pearls tend to be so consistent in shape, color, and general appearance, they are ideal for matched strands of necklaces and bracelets, and in earrings.  Akoya pearls may also be found with soft color overtones such as rose or silver.  As you’d expect, the high quality of this type of pearl  makes it a popular choice for fine designer jewelry.  Akoya pearls can be found in jewelry created by MIKIMOTO,  Slane, and Yvel, among others.
