About I.D. Bracelets
Identification Bracelets, also known as I.D. Bracelets, are an interesting concept. Generally thought of as being either silver or gold chain link, this style of bracelet is distinguished by a centered, metal bar where information is engraved that is specific to the wearer. Back in the ’60’s and ’70’s, the style was extremely popular and the etched “information” tended to be the wearer’s name, initials, or nickname. Eventually the concept evolved to include Medical Alert Bracelets. These bracelets usually had an Asclepius or Caduceus medical symbol on the front and medical information on the back that would be pertinent in the event the wearer was unable to communicate with emergency responders, such as information about allergies or medical conditions like Diabetes or Epilepsy. Recently, the idea has been broadened to include Children’s ID bracelets, where details such as parent names, phone number, and address may be engraved alongside the child’s name. As with anything retro, I.D. bracelets are very much back in style and make a wonderful gift, both for aesthetics and practical reasons.
