Designer Watches: Raymond Weil
Raymond Weil was born in Geneva, Switzerland, a magical place where a latent watchmaking talent appears to be structured in the populace’s DNA. A youthful Weil began his career with the Geneva watch company, Camy Watch S.A., where his love of watchmaking combined with his unique skills propelled him to the top spot in the company. By 1976, Weil was frustrated with working for someone else and decided to start his own company. His goal was to establish a family owned business that designed and developed fine watches that would combine all of the singular qualities that define Swiss luxury watch excellence: namely; precision, quality, reliability, nobility, and technical nature of the materials. Weil, along with his son-in-law, Olivier Bernsheim, and grandsons, grew the company to become one of the premier leaders in the fine Swiss watch industry. Today, the company is one of the few that remain family owned. Many of the Raymond Weil watch lines and models are named to honor the family’s love of music, such as the Maestro, the Tango, and the Fidelio (a Beethoven opera) models. The fine watches in Weils’ collections are as enticing, compelling, and sophisticated as their names reflect. Raymond Weil designer watches are a wonderful asset for the fine designer watch connoisseur.
