About Tanzanite Jewelry
Tanzanite is a modern day gemstone. It wasn’t discovered until 1967 so it is never found in antique jewelry. Because of its newness, the gemstone has no lore, myths, or legends attached to it. Hence, it has no special meaning or magical powers assigned by our ancestors. In a way, this is nice; the gem is new and fresh and bears no mystical “baggage”. The stone was first found in Tanzania and when mined, has a boring, dusty brown appearance. But, when heat is applied, the gemstone morphs into a gorgeous royal blue or lavender marvel with very few inclusions. The stone has increased in popularity because of the uniqueness and clarity of its final color. Tanzanite is moderately hardy and makes a wonderful, vivid, addition to anyone’s jewelry collection.
