About Anniversary and Eternity Rings
What is an Anniversary ring? Beyond the meaning implicit in the name, an anniversary or eternity ring is a ring set with stones, generally diamonds, that completely (or almost completely) encircles the ring and symbolizes eternal love. Often an anniversary band is chosen to compliment the wedding ring so that they can, if desired, be worn on the same finger. Anniversary rings are usually presented on special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas, or of course, as an Anniversary gift. Colored gemstones are sometimes chosen to represent something special for either the couple or the recipient, like a birthstone or a stone that marks a specific anniversary. Examples of this are the ruby, which is the traditional gift for the 40th anniversary or pearls, which are appropriate for the thirtieth. The metal used in the ring is also symbolic. The 25th anniversary is signified by silver; the 50th, by gold. Diamonds, although they signify the 60th anniversary, are always appropriate regardless of the milestone being celebrated. Anniversary jewelry can be found in a large array of designs, metals, and gemstones and are great gifts to mark special moments in a woman’s life.
