About Cuff Bracelets
There are many types of bracelet styles including bangles, tennis, charm, link, I.D., and chain bracelets. Perhaps one of the most noticeable types is the cuff, which is described as a solid, rigid, usually wide, minimally decorated bracelet that is almost always composed of metal. A gap in the back of a cuff allows the bracelet to slip over the wrist. Cuff bracelets, as with bangle bracelets, have been around pretty much since jewelry has been around. The Roman’s, Egyptians, and other early cultures were known to wear cuff jewelry. The reason for this appears to be simple: the design, because it required no clasp, was not complicated to produce. Hollywood is especially fond of utilizing cuffs to accessorize any period piece about ancient Egypt or early Roman, Greek, or other southern European societies. In fact, I can’t recall ever seeing a rendition of Cleopatra where she wasn’t depicted wearing a cuff bracelet. Because of this, I think wearing a cuff bracelet brings a feel of history and majesty with it alongside the bracelet’s primary purpose as a decorative accent. Regardless, cuff bracelets provide a wonderful accessory to any modern woman’s wardrobe.
