About Hoop Earrings
Hoop earrings are earrings that form a rounded loop as they extend from the front of the earlobe to the back. When I used to think of this type of earring, I almost always imagined either silver or gold jewelry, that varied in thickness of the metal and diameter around the ear, but little else. This is not the case at all. Hoop earrings are limited only by the imagination of the designer. True, they are frequently found in plainly designed gold or silver but there are many variations and enhancements to the simple theme. Hoop earrings may be embellished with gemstones and diamonds. They may be etched or shaped in stylized patterns. Hoops may form a secondary accent for stud earrings. Thinking that this type of earring as merely hoop- shaped gold or silver is old school. Next time you visit a jewelry store, make sure you check out the diversity of the hoop earring selection.
