About Jewelry Enhancers
I wasn’t familiar with the term “enhancer” when applied to jewelry. The first thing I discovered when researching the term was the vast range of how narrowly or broadly individual sources defined it. Some sources specifically defined an enhancer as a piece of wire that when attached to a pendant, allowed the pendant to be appended to most chains or beaded necklaces. Other sources extended the definition to include not just a wire, but any pendant with the ability to be clipped on or slipped over a basic chain or bead necklace, bracelet, or even unto a broach via an attached bar. The one thing each source had in common was that each consistently affirmed the purpose of an enhancer as providing versatility to a piece of jewelry. Having the ability to alter the look of a basic piece of jewelry, such as a simple gold chain, by adding or exchanging a pendant is a great concept. Not only does the idea save money, but it helps prevent issues with jewelry storage.
