Jewelry designer Marco Bicego’s Jaipur collection is about blending ancient beauty with contemporary style. Jaipur, India, is a city with an opulent and extravagant history. Sometimes referred to as the “pink city”, Jaipur is ripe with tales of maharajas and Mogul emperors and the talented jewelry artisans and gem cutters who were kept busy providing spectacular jewelry in accordance with their lavish lifestyles. It didn’t hurt that the region is known for its vast deposits of gems which include emeralds, topaz, rubies, and amethysts. With his Jaipur collection, Marco Bicego, wanted to blend the mystical image of Jaipur with what he refers to as pleasing imperfect contemporary design. The collection features the Bicego exclusive cut with colorful gemstones that are never matched or identical. Mr. Bicego believes that because nature doesn’t produce perfect stones, why should he?
