Shades of Sapphire Jewelry
Sapphires are a gemstone variety of a mineral corundum and September’s birthstone. Sapphires are natural stones found in certain sediments and rock formations. There are also created sapphires that are man made in laboratories that are just as beautiful as the natural gemstones but a fraction of the cost.
When people think of sapphire gemstone jewelry, they primarily think of blue sapphires. The truth is sapphires come in a wide variety of color shades. Purple, violet and green shades are the most common secondary hues found in sapphires and are often known as “Fancy Sapphires“. Among these common secondary colors there is a large range of color shades within the purple, violet and green. Pink sapphire jewelry has become a favorite in the recent years, especially for the spring and summer color trends. The deeper the pink color the higher the value of the stone. The yellow and green sapphires shades are a fall favorite.
