MARC is an exclusive, designer jewelry brand that specializes in unique, sterling silver Marcasite jewelry. The 30 year old New York based company has allied themselves with Swarovski, with MARC crafting and manufacturing their original designs and Swarovski providing their premium quality stones. Most of us don’t recognize the term “Marcasite”, but when we see a physical example, it sparks a sense of familiarity. Marcasite is actually pyrite, known as fool’s gold, and has been used in jewelry since the time of the ancient Greeks. It was extremely popular in both the Victorian and Art Nouveau Eras. Company marketing focuses on the MARC brand’s art technology, “fashion conscious styling”, and quality craftsmanship. But to me, the use of an antique gemstone when accompanied by a classic, timeless design, creates a piece of jewelry that invokes feelings of nostalgia for an illustrious age in jewelry design. Irregardless, MARC makes truly beautiful jewelry.
