About Tanzanite Jewelry
Not discovered until 1967, the beautiful, sparkling blue gemstone Tanzanite is only found in a small section of Tanzania near Mount Kilimanjaro. It is generally found in small grains, with large crystals being extremely rare. Tanzanite, often described as a deep, light to violet blue gemstone surrounded by a hint of purple, is actually the blue variety of ziosite. The vivid blue color produces very appealing jewelry. On the downside, Tanzanite, with its 6.5 to 7 rating on the Mohs scale, is slightly delicate. It should be worn with care, avoiding contact with acids or cleaning with ultrasonic bathes. The cost of Tanzanite jewelry is wide and varied because of the stone’s vivid and unusual color as well as its rarity. Tanzanite rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces are truly striking pieces of jewelry.
